Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. Double Day Shifts £43,000–48,000 per year (plus weekly production bonus and overtime opportunities). Double Shift Pattern (05:30–14:00 and 13:30–22:00), Monday to Friday. Location: Herefordshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and production machinery
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime
• Deliver mechanical project work including upgrades, installations and system improvements
• Support the integration and commissioning of new machinery
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable performance
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks (MMA and MIG) as required
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support shift operations
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and project activities

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in an industrial, manufacturing or heavy engineering environment
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently and proactively
• Reliable, professional and safety‑conscious attitude
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures and compliance requirements
• Hands‑on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, welding (MMA and MIG), conveyors, saws or similar heavy production machinery
• Qualified mechanical engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)
