Senior Solution Architect (AI) – Salary: £90,400 – £120,000 – Location: Bristol – Hours: Full-time – Working Pattern: Hybrid (at least two days per week or 40% of time at an office).

As part of the Customer Experience & Analytics Lab, you will play a vital role in building a forward‑thinking Chatbot as a Service platform. You will collaborate on innovative solutions that incorporate Large Language Models and Agentic AI within a well‑established cloud‑based ecosystem, while coaching and motivating colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of robust software solutions using modern engineering techniques across GCP and Microsoft Azure stacks, aligned with Enterprise Architecture and Business Design strategy.
- Act as a trusted advisor to colleagues and professionals within and outside the organisation, providing valuable insights, strategic perspectives and encouraging problem‑solving.
- Create and maintain a blueprint for organising and communicating the Lab technology change agenda.
- Promote adoption of modern software engineering practices, including DevOps, CI/CD and cloud computing.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to shape high‑quality, innovative products that align with business goals.
- Deliver design outputs such as Minimum Viable Designs and architecture decisions through formal governance processes.
- Champion agile development practices, including continuous integration, test automation and timely delivery of tasks.
Qualifications
- Professional experience of 5+ years in software engineering design or solution design/architecture.
- Experience in shaping and executing design change across complex operational and technology environments.
- Extensive knowledge of software development principles with a focus on highly observable and scalable solutions.
- Proficiency in Node.js, React, Next.js and Python.
- Experience with API development, automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Knowledge of cyber‑security practices and techniques to ensure resilient applications.
- Deep understanding of Git and source‑code management.
- Significant experience with integration tools and cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native architecture and containerisation technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker); Helm experience is a plus.
- Understanding of networking, including public cloud and on‑premise infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of agile development practices, continuous integration and test automation.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time by effectively managing tasks and priorities.
