Ladden Brook is a 12‑bedded male ward in Fromeside, Medium Secure Unit.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to join our team. We work hard to ensure that we provide high‑quality, evidence‑based and collaborative care across all areas of our service. The role will include interaction and communication with a wide range of people, including service users, health and social care staff, medical professionals and carers.
Main duties of the job
To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations for patients are provided.
This will include:
- Comprehensive nursing assessment — Undertaking a comprehensive, person‑centred nursing assessment and preparing care plans in consultation with service users to provide the best possible nursing care.
- Care and rehabilitation delivery — Implementing care and rehabilitation programmes.
- Evaluation of care — Evaluating the effectiveness of care provided, in partnership with service users.
- Research‑based practice — Demonstrating the ability to implement research‑based practice.
- Supervision of staff — Following successful completion of preceptorship, supervising junior and unqualified staff.
- Medicines management — Administering medication within relevant Trust and legislative guidance, e.g. NMC Standards for Medicines Management (2010) and the Misuse of Drugs Act (1971).
- Risk assessment — Undertaking risk assessments and developing risk‑management strategies for individual clients, including ICPA/SAP, for people presenting with mental health problems.
- Mental health legislation — Demonstrating a working knowledge of the key elements of relevant mental health legislation.
- Medication governance — Ensuring the ordering, storage, administration and disposal of medication comply with relevant Trust and legislative guidance.
