Senior Network Engineer

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing the Novanta global networks, including WAN, Cloud interconnects, and branch office networks. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, ensuring that network services are built using robust, secure, and scalable best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy enterprise‑scale network solutions: plan, analyze and design; deploy and configure enterprise‑grade firewalls.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures and standards; manage firewall and network segmentation frameworks.
  • Design and deploy NAC solutions.
  • Maintain and optimize existing branch and cloud network infrastructure; monitor performance, troubleshoot issues and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Design, build and manage cloud interconnects and VPN solutions for hybrid‑cloud workloads.
  • Manage ISP vendors to support the global backbone.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes and procedures; collaborate with developers, architects and network engineers.
  • Use JIRA and Confluence for planning and implementation.
  • Act as escalation point for teams within IT and Operations; work with third parties to design and implement business initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Highly proficient with Layer 3 routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF; in‑depth understanding of TCP/IP and Layer 4–7 protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of DDI (DNS, DHCP, IP management).
  • Experience with network performance monitoring, metrics and KPI’s.
  • Experience with IaC tools (Ansible, Python, Perl).
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and independent working capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing ISP vendors and global backbone support.

Certifications

  • Professional certifications such as CCNP or CCNA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience with Cisco Security products, Cisco Meraki switching & APs, Cisco Secure Access, Palo Alto Panorama management, PAN and Next‑Gen firewalls, and Alto Networks.
  • Knowledge of networking and security concepts and compliance.
