PSV / HGV Engineer (Mechanical and Electrical)

Location: Bangor

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £18.35 per hour + overtime + excellent benefits

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on PSV, HGV and Light Goods Vehicles
• Carry out routine electrical inspections, servicing and preventive maintenance
• Install, repair and replace electrical components such as wiring looms, alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting systems, climate control units and infotainment systems
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues
• Ensure all repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
• Complete accurate and timely reports on work carried out
• Work alongside mechanics, technicians and engineers within a collaborative depot environment
• Keep up to date with new and emerging vehicle electrical technologies, including hybrid and electric systems
• Participate in overtime and on-call rotations when required

Qualifications

Essential

• Recognised qualification or apprenticeship in Vehicle Electrical or Electronic Systems (or equivalent)
• Hands‑on electrical experience with PSV, HGV or Light Vehicle fleets
• Strong diagnostic capability and confidence working with wiring diagrams and schematics
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
• Full UK driving licence. Cat D (PCV) desirable, or willingness to obtain through in‑house training
• Good understanding of electrical safety and compliance in vehicle environments

Desirable

• Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle systems
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and teamwork ability
