Role Overview

Senior Process Engineer – responsible for the process design of a programme of water industry non‑infrastructure projects, covering outline and detailed design stages, and providing construction/commissioning support during delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of process design deliverables such as process models, mass balances and control philosophies.
  • Provide technical assurance of process designs undertaken by others and ensure compliance with client standards and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation to meet whole‑life cost and net‑zero drivers.
  • Analyse site performance, identify risks impacting project delivery and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Challenge the process selection and delivery effectiveness of initial solutions to ensure best value for clients.
  • Support the development of other process engineers, coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Appropriately challenge client specifications and present and defend solutions to complex problems.
  • Actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related Process Engineering discipline, preferably chartered.
  • Experience and understanding of water and/or wastewater unit processes and treatment plants, with a record of delivering process design for wastewater projects.
  • Experience of HAZOP studies as chair or team member is advantageous.
  • Strong clean water non‑infrastructure experience.
