Locum Consultant in Public Health

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic population health insight to inform service redesign and delivery in priority areas as outlined in the Operational Performance Improvement Plan.
- Support collaboration between Public Health Scotland, the Directors of Public Health, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, the Centre for Sustainable Delivery and Public Services Delivery Scotland to promote population healthcare approaches to planning, redesign, and service delivery.
- Assist NHS Scotland in becoming a Population Health Organisation (PHO) through whole‑system collaboration, prevention and value‑focused decision‑making.
- Provide strategic leadership and expert specialist advice on healthcare public health issues, translating insight into practical action for partners.
- Integrate population evidence, healthcare and improvement expertise, and clinical leadership in line with the Scottish Approach to Change to strengthen planning consistency, equity, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register (or GDC Specialist List / UKPHR). For UK‑trained doctors, evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry at interview; for Portfolio Pathway route, post award only eligible.
- Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
- Current inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register, GDC Specialist List, or UKPHR at time of application.
- Within six months of gaining entry (if applicable).
