About the role
We’re recruiting for a skilled and committed Principal Analyst to help shape our Head Office Underwriting and Pricing Data Team, bringing advanced technical expertise and vision to the forefront of our data management efforts. In this role, you’ll take ownership of data priorities, using your technical knowledge across a range of data management disciplines to influence outcomes and drive impactful projects. As a technical role model, you’ll be instrumental in driving and defining ways of working and ensuring a high quality of coding standards and outputs. Your advanced data engineering skillset will be utilised to design and build technical data solutions to suit pricing requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting with the migration from our legacy on‑premise SQL servers, to our Azure SQL data warehouse. With an eye for continuous improvement, you’ll create and review data models, transformation routines, and performance reports, all while ensuring that our data management controls are robust and effective.
Collaboration is key in this role. You’ll build relationships across Pricing and the wider business, advocating for best practices in data management and ensuring the seamless delivery of high‑quality data solutions. Communication skills are essential, as you’ll convey analytical outcomes and drive follow‑up actions that provide outstanding service to both our team and business stakeholders. As the technical lead, you’ll set technical direction for the workstream, whilst planning and managing team projects, ensuring timescales are balanced with high‑quality data outputs. In addition, you’ll champion process improvements that boost efficiency, customer service, and overall effectiveness.
About you
You have strong technical expertise and hands‑on experience in data management and advanced skills in handling large and complex data sets, along with the planning and prioritisation skills to coordinate multiple technical projects and make data‑driven recommendations to senior stakeholders. You communicate effectively with diverse audiences and excel at stakeholder management, including senior level. Your expertise includes data cleansing, manipulation, and warehousing, and you’re capable of coaching and mentoring others to share your knowledge. Any experience within the insurance or financial services industry would be desirable but is not essential to be successful in this role.
- Advanced SQL skills (e.g dynamic SQL or window functions) as well as experience with SSIS and Azure Data Factory or another ETL tool
- Ability to manage workstreams and delegate to others to meet project timeframes
- End‑to‑end technical delivery skills, able to take requirements from stakeholders, interpret their needs and deliver in a timely manner
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving, with a customer‑focused approach that enhances service quality
- Experience with Agile methodology
- General Insurance experience is highly desirable
