Senior Medical Writer
Our Senior Medical Writers are responsible for driving day‑to‑day project delivery within an account to create outstanding medical content across a variety of therapy areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Scientific knowledge: Confidently steps into new therapeutic areas
- Starting to lead discussions with clients and external experts on therapy area, drivers which influence treatment decision‑making and patient pathways
- Strategic knowledge: Helps to lead meetings and strategic discussions with clients
- AI: Proactively utilizes a broad range of AI solutions to streamline complex projects, with support from others
- Evaluates and implements AI‑driven solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of projects, identifying opportunities for improvement and collaborating with team members to optimize project delivery
- Provides guidance and training to team members on best practice
- Project ownership: Leads content delivery for complex projects with supervision from senior team, delegating to AMW/MWs as needed and where appropriate to ensure timely execution to a high standard
- Skilled in achieving communications objectives by employing a broad range of channels and formats
- Project development: Interrogates briefs from clients/internal teams and proactively flags any queries or potential issues
- Applies critical thinking skills toward a project brief to achieve deliverables in a timely and efficient manner
- Provides a proactive, solution‑focused approach toward resolving queries, and addressing feedback
- Initiates discussions with Account Teams regarding potential barriers to successful project completion that may arise
- Editorial: Develops compelling narratives from complex information
- Structures and writes novel projects that may not have been executed previously
- Quality control: Takes responsibility for overall quality of deliverables with supervision from senior team
- Reviews JMWs’ work for adherence to brief, client objectives and quality of writing, providing constructive feedback
- On site: Leads elements of the on‑site programme across a variety of events with support from others
- Client liaison: Leads scientific discussion with clients and external experts as appropriate to capture briefs, resolve queries, and progress scientific content development in a timely and efficient manner
- Growth and new business: Supports development of scientific content for new therapeutic areas for new business and proactively identifies new business opportunities with new and existing clients
- Project management: Provides timely and accurate communication to accounts team on writer hours, and project progress
- Teamwork: Trains/mentors junior writers on account‑specific therapy area knowledge and processes
Qualifications and Skills
- You should bring a strong scientific background with a degree in a scientific or medical discipline (post‑graduate degree preferred). A high level of academic achievement is expected
- You should bring previous experience of medical writing at an MW level or above
- A passion for, and profound understanding of, healthcare, science, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry is essential, as well as a keen interest in AI technologies
- You’ll need to be personable, articulate, and capable of nurturing relationships. Previous experience mentoring MWs and interacting regularly with clients is essential
