Java Engineer – IG Prime

Team
Our engineering team is part of the IG Prime division, strengthening IG’s institutional client offering. The FIX Integrations team builds and maintains the APIs that power connectivity with institutional clients and partners across global markets, delivering resilient, high‑performance trading and market data integrations.
Your role in the team’s success
You will help build a new suite of robust trading APIs in the cloud, enabling new clients to onboard quickly and supporting IG’s growth in new markets.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain IG’s FIX APIs
- Help deliver the IGPrime division’s product roadmap of new functionality
- Provide technical support to IG’s clients and FIX support teams when required
- Monitor and manage FIX API services with a focus on performance, reliability, and resilience
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to improve processes and deliver excellent service
- Build test harnesses and increase automation across the FIX platform
What you’ll need for this role
- Experience with developing external APIs
- A continuous improvement mentality, experience coding with AI
- Good at identifying development risks and building mitigations
- ~5years of Java development experience
- Strong concurrent/multithreaded programming skills
- Experience with asynchronous systems (streaming, messaging)
- Experience using the Spring Framework
- Linux proficiency, including shell scripting
- Experience with cloud technologies, ideally AWS
