Key Responsibilities
- Second line of defence responsibilities related to Credit Risk, overseeing and challenging risk management actions from the First Line.
- Managing the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) for Credit Risk, ensuring the approach to risk and the control framework, and that risk‑return trade‑offs are made.
- Ensuring first- and second-line owners understand and accept their risk‑management responsibilities.
- Ensuring a robust effectiveness review process for the ERMF with regards to Credit Risk, and escalating significant matters and gaps in ERMF implementations to senior management and relevant board‑level committees.
- Monitoring compliance with the Board‑approved risk appetite for Credit Risk through the risk information report covering principal risk types, and highlighting significant matters to senior management and risk committees.
- Ensuring the credit portfolio quality remains within the acceptable parameters set by the Group and Country Risk Appetite statements and relevant Portfolio Underwriting Standards, and that portfolio reporting is timely and accurate.
- Building a culture of good conduct in the Risk function, embedding the Risk Culture statement, and carrying out Process Universe responsibilities as defined in the ERMF.
- Making final credit decisions for wholesale lending facilities within delegated credit authorities, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the business credit application and capturing critical information required for credit risk measurement and analysis.
- Identifying and escalating other risk matters as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Substantial experience at the highest level in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role within the same product/business area.
- Sharp business acumen (including the ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills, and multi‑cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Demonstrated track record in successful management and the ability to manage risk in geographically dispersed and highly varied product bases, with expertise in process design and control.
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the bank operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
- Significant relationship‑management experience with external stakeholders at the most senior levels, including regulators and rating agencies.
