About the role

Our organization is seeking a resilient and experienced residential manager to lead a team of carers in providing high‑quality, individualized care for children aged 10‑18 in our homes across Coventry. The manager will oversee the same‑day / short‑stay service or a complex‑needs home and will be responsible for delivering best practice services that meet or exceed the Children Homes Regulations 2015 and SCCIF standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the team with training, supervision and professional development.
  • Recruit new carers through safer recruitment practices and assess performance.
  • Understand the needs of children, including those with disabilities and varying complexities.
  • Ensure the voice of the child is heard and respected in service delivery.
  • Adhere to and implement relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Participate in the development and continual improvement of the service.
  • Undertake relevant training and qualifications as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • Within the last five years, at least two years in a position relevant to the residential care of children.
  • At least one year of work supervising and managing staff in a care role.
  • A solid understanding of and advocacy for the principles of diversity and inclusion in workplace culture and service delivery.
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations and best practices in children’s services.
  • Strong initiative, ability to drive forward improvements and exceed regulatory requirements.

Employment details

  • Full‑time, 37 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday work; additional on‑call cover on a rota basis.
  • Right to work in the UK is required; no sponsorship will be offered.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointments will be conditional upon a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
