Overview

As a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Care, you will play a key role delivering high‑quality medical care across our inpatient unit, day services, and community settings, working closely with consultants, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, holistic care.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide expert symptom management and end‑of‑life care to patients with complex palliative needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the MDT to develop and implement individualised care plans.
  • Contribute to education, training, and mentorship of junior doctors, medical students, and nursing staff.
  • Support research, audits, and service improvements to enhance patient care.
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical documentation using electronic patient record systems.
  • Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to hospice values.

About us

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end‑of‑life care for adults with life‑limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions.
