Overview
We are looking for skilled and dynamic Clinical Specialists with a passion for delivering outstanding patient care, committed to least restrictive practice and acting in the patient’s best interest.
The role requires stamina, resilience, and the ability to work in a joined‑up way with Trust services and acute hospital colleagues, while providing compassionate and trauma‑informed care to patients at their most vulnerable.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete trauma informed psychosocial assessments and develop safe and effective collaborative plans with service users.
- Have theoretical knowledge of mental health liaison emergency and ward‑based work, applying a wide range of theoretical approaches and a variety of clinical skills suitable to the needs of individual patients.
- Take direct responsibility for carrying out specialist assessments, including risk assessments, unsupervised.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and document specialist care.
- Use PMVA techniques to prevent and manage escalation to reduce harm to self and others.
- Work closely with NCL wide crisis services and maintain good working relationships with all other CRTs to ensure least restrictive practice and positive outcomes.
- Make autonomous decisions regarding admission and discharge of patients based on complex clinical analysis and agreed protocols, and guide junior doctors on rotation with the service.
- Provide a consultation‑liaison and assessment service to clinicians and clinical teams within the general hospital, giving specialist advice on care, treatment, and patient management issues.
