Neurosurgery Senior Complex Spinal Fellow
The Trust offers a 12‑month fixed‑term vacancy for the position of Senior Complex Spinal Fellow within Neurosurgery.
- Full‑time role with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Run out‑patient clinics and operating sessions under a designated consultant.
- Work with a team of 10 clinical, 2 academic registrars and 3 fellows.
- Cross‑cover colleagues’ absence as required.
- Perform on‑call duties, including operating out‑of‑hours at a level appropriate for a Senior SpR.
- On‑call duties shared equally with other ST3+ level post‑holders, banded at 1B (40%).
- Run a weekly Rapid Access Spine and Fracture clinic.
- Perform audit and research projects at St George’s, RMH and RSCH.
- Incorporate an element of service development.
- Travel between all Trust sites and other necessary locations.
- Collaborate with the spine MDT coordinator and CNS to facilitate effective clinical management and seamless care of patients with spinal tumours.
Person Specification
- Training in a neurosurgical training programme of a minimum of 5 years.
- A developing knowledge of the basic science of spinal surgery and the ability to apply this to clinical practice.
- Computer skills, including the ability to manage databases and image processing systems, which generate reliable research and clinical outcome data sets.
- Higher degree CCT or entry onto the specialist register.
- Experience of audit and research methodology.
- A declared interest in spinal surgery.
- Ability to work with the wider clinical and management team to develop services.
