The Group Financial Reporting Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the Groups consolidated financial reporting. Sitting at the heart of the finance function, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality external and internal reporting that supports effective decision-making across the business while ensuring full compliance with IFRS, regulatory obligations and internal control frameworks.
Working within a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will partner closely with teams across Finance, including FP&A, Tax, Treasury and Audit, as well as senior stakeholders across the wider business to support effective financial governance and strategic decision-making. You will provide expert technical accounting guidance, lead key reporting activities and help drive continuous improvement across financial processes.
We work in a hybrid way at Saga, both at home and in the office. Our Group Finance team are typically in the Folkestone office once a week. We are open to discussing the right office cadence across our Folkestone and London offices for the right candidate.
Role Responsibility
As our Group Financial Reporting Lead, you will be responsible for leading the preparation of interim and annual consolidated Group financial results, including notes, disclosures and compliance with the Companies Act and Listing Rules.
Other accountabilities include:
Reviewing and challenge submissions from business units to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Assisting with Group management reporting requirements
Leading the production of the Groups Annual Report & Accounts (ARA), including notes, disclosures, and compliance with Companies Act and Listing Rules.
Ensuring compliance with IFRS (including upcoming standards such as IFRS 18) and maintain technical accounting excellence.
Coordinating audit deliverables and act as a key contact for external auditors.
Assist in the Ppreparation of subsidiary financial statements
Providing technical accounting support to Group and divisional finance teams to ensure consistent application of policies and standards.
Preparing accounting papers for complex transactions (e.g., revenue, leases, intercompany, impairments, share based payments).
Monitoring changes in accounting standards and support implementation.
Presenting insights and reporting issues to senior finance stakeholders, including the Group CFO and FR&C leadership.
Supporting cross functional initiatives with Tax, Treasury and FP&A.
Involvement in ad-hoc projects
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and have proven experience in group consolidation and external reporting.
Other skills include:
Strong technical accounting knowledge with significant IFRS experience.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience with financial systems and modern reporting tools.
Experience working in a listed or complex multi-entity group. (Desirable)
Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems. (Desirable)
