Neuroimmunology & CSF Laboratory at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London, seeks a Band 8b scientist to perform specialist procedures, assist in method development, and support translational research.

Responsibilities

• Carry out specialist techniques and tests in accordance with departmental SOPs.
• Perform additional duties within the team, including participation in updates, audits, and specialist method development.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of new complex laboratory techniques and tests.
• Provide training to other staff as requested.
• Maintain and meet service requirements and turnaround times set by the department.
• Handle clinical, analytical, technical, quality management and administrative troubleshooting, ensuring adequate supplies of reagents and consumables.
• Ensure reliable service delivery in accordance with ISO 15189:2022.

Qualifications

• Band 8b scientist.
• Experience in a Neuroimmunology, Biochemistry or Immunology diagnostic or research laboratory.
• HCPC registered as a clinical scientist or healthcare scientist, ideally with FRCPath Part 1 or equivalent experience.
• Highly developed scientific manual skills and a strong interest in aiding new technique evaluation.
• Commitment to maintain high standards in service delivery and quality management.
