Account Director – Social Focused
Located in London, the role is part of the Client Partnerships team at VaynerMedia EMEA. The position involves leading flagship accounts, delivering best‑in‑class client services and leveraging extensive experience with social media and through‑the‑line strategy.
Responsibilities
- Deliver best‑in‑class client services, creative and social media expertise.
- Flex strategic and creative skills while growing the agency’s remit across these accounts.
- Bring together internal teams to create a united EMEA team with a shared vision for the account.
- Inspire, motivate, and mentor client service team members.
- Partner with clients and stakeholders to truly understand their needs and pressures, developing trusting relationships and ensuring strong results.
- Guide and contribute to strategic recommendations, creative ideas and deliverables.
- Work closely with operations partners to drive growth and protect workstreams.
- Be well versed in the various communication opportunities across the marketing mix, including paid media and measurement opportunities in social and digital to provide client recommendations on proper channels and KPIs based on brand‑specific goals.
- Identify and help sell‑through incremental opportunities to clients that deliver efficient returns and results on overall marketing spend.
- Collaborate with team leaders in Strategy, Creative, Production, Project Management, Analytics/Insights and Media to improve and execute client deliverables, processes and output.
- Contribute to the continued growth and stability of the agency, making decisions that benefit the company today and tomorrow.
- Evangelise the work internally and externally.
- Take the driver’s seat and push the work forward with relentless focus on details.
- Hold regular one‑to‑one sessions and spend face time with clients to spot and drive incremental account opportunities.
- Track financial progression with operations, ensuring shared assessment.
- Constantly identify risks and solutions, remaining agile and strategic throughout the project lifecycle.
- Be heavily client‑facing to build trusted advisor relationships.
- Provide motivation and mentorship to the client partnerships team and be the first escalation point for issue or conflict resolution on all projects.
- Support the VP of Client Partnerships in matching and optimising team skill levels and aspirations.
- Keep VaynerMedia values at the core.
- Support new business and PR efforts such as case studies, award entries and pitch development.
- Grow relationships, enjoy social engagement and community events.
Qualifications
- Previous experience managing key work streams for clients.
- Leadership and management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Proven negotiation skills for incremental projects or retainer negotiations.
- Top‑of‑tree experience.
- Experience on an international account is advantageous but not required.
- Understanding of media, especially paid social.
- Hands‑on experience owning strategic and creative projects that require senior stakeholder management.
- Ability to recognise and solve potential problems, escalating issues or conflicts and continually evaluating project effectiveness.
- European language skills a real bonus.
- Manage overall quality of agency output and account management.
- Strong communication skills and impressive attention to detail.
- A calm, cool and collected approach to problem solving.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Strong self‑awareness and people‑management skills.
- Understanding of key channels and ability to drive the latest platform thinking into work.
