Job Overview
The WIP Controller is responsible for overseeing the management of the entire WIP process and driving key outcomes. The role involves reviewing work completed by in‑house and subcontractors, ensuring proper backup and references, meeting contractual requirements, and working closely with Operations, Finance, OTC and RTR teams. As part of the Finance Shared Services team, the controller supports contract managers, operations and business development to maximise revenue, minimise leakage, optimise working capital and deliver accurate reporting of monthly results. The role also supports OTC activities and provides financial analysis to support business decisions for the Mitie group.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the delivery of end‑to‑end WIP activities by relevant functions with close supervision.
- Understand and comply with policies and procedures.
- Compile a daily open orders report and store it on central SharePoint.
- Attend WIP review meetings relating to working capital.
- Be pro‑active in identifying and implementing added value opportunities.
- Manage conversion of AI to bill.
- Use different software and programs to gather relevant backing documentation.
- Work with a wide variety of stakeholders to gather/receive information required from all platforms.
- Work with clients to understand requirements and resolve billing blockages.
- Proactively manage the timely resolution of queries and disputes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work alongside WIPRO, ensuring timely invoicing and meeting client needs.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements on the OTC process to drive timely cash conversion.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly reports, maintaining integrity, accuracy, and providing clear visibility of the financial health of the business units.
- Undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required.
Qualifications
- Good demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be tenacious, proactively following up on issues and driving outcomes.
- Advanced experience of Microsoft Excel (Pivots & VLOOKUP essential).
- Good understanding of day‑to‑day operations of a Finance department / Order to Cash (OTC) process.
- Deadline driven with the ability to manage own time and prioritise workload.
- Ability to work within a flexible and virtual team structure and deal with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Good attention to detail and data analysis skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information.
- Experience in SAP/WR1 desirable but not essential.
