Job Description:

We’re supporting a rapidly growing pharmaceutical site in Hoddesdon that has expanded from 35 to 450+ employees since 2013, with plans to exceed 1000 employees in the coming years.

The site has recently completed a £10M state-of-the-art AMS laboratory, including a brand-new HVAC system—one of only a handful of its kind in Europe. With further investment and projects already planned, this is a great opportunity to join a high-growth, technically advanced environment.

This role offers a strong mix of hands-on maintenance and project work, supporting critical utilities and cleanroom systems rather than traditional production lines.

The Role

As an Instrumentation & Controls Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving site systems, ensuring reliability, compliance, and performance across a range of regulated environments.

You’ll be working on systems including:

  • HVAC (temperature, humidity, pressure control – BMS monitored)
  • Cleanrooms, stability chambers & cold rooms
  • Purified water systems
  • Flowmeters, gas analysers and process instrumentation
  • Reactor and agitator systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance via CMMS
  • Respond to breakdowns and fault-finding activities
  • Ensure PM schedules are completed on time and to standard
  • Maintain GxP-compliant documentation and reporting
  • Support small projects, including installation and commissioning
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ensure high safety standards and proactively manage risks
  • Collaborate with internal teams to minimise disruption to operations

What We’re Looking For

  • Completed engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Multi-Skilled / Instrumentation / Controls Technician
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in GxP / regulated environments (pharma preferred)
  • Knowledge of instrumentation systems and building services / utilities
  • Good documentation and reporting skills

Desirable

  • Experience with GMP manufacturing equipment
  • Exposure to PLC systems (programming or fault finding)
  • Knowledge of boilers, water systems, or L8 regulations
  • Additional controls or instrumentation qualifications

What’s on Offer

  • Work on cutting-edge lab and HVAC systems
  • Be part of a major growth and investment journey
  • Opportunity to contribute to ongoing and future site projects
  • Stable Monday–Friday role (no shift work) with occasional flexibility
