We’re supporting a rapidly growing pharmaceutical site in Hoddesdon that has expanded from 35 to 450+ employees since 2013, with plans to exceed 1000 employees in the coming years.
The site has recently completed a £10M state-of-the-art AMS laboratory, including a brand-new HVAC system—one of only a handful of its kind in Europe. With further investment and projects already planned, this is a great opportunity to join a high-growth, technically advanced environment.
This role offers a strong mix of hands-on maintenance and project work, supporting critical utilities and cleanroom systems rather than traditional production lines.
The Role
As an Instrumentation & Controls Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving site systems, ensuring reliability, compliance, and performance across a range of regulated environments.
You’ll be working on systems including:
- HVAC (temperature, humidity, pressure control – BMS monitored)
- Cleanrooms, stability chambers & cold rooms
- Purified water systems
- Flowmeters, gas analysers and process instrumentation
- Reactor and agitator systems
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance via CMMS
- Respond to breakdowns and fault-finding activities
- Ensure PM schedules are completed on time and to standard
- Maintain GxP-compliant documentation and reporting
- Support small projects, including installation and commissioning
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Ensure high safety standards and proactively manage risks
- Collaborate with internal teams to minimise disruption to operations
What We’re Looking For
- Completed engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent)
- Experience as a Multi-Skilled / Instrumentation / Controls Technician
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Experience in GxP / regulated environments (pharma preferred)
- Knowledge of instrumentation systems and building services / utilities
- Good documentation and reporting skills
Desirable
- Experience with GMP manufacturing equipment
- Exposure to PLC systems (programming or fault finding)
- Knowledge of boilers, water systems, or L8 regulations
- Additional controls or instrumentation qualifications
