Job Description
Due to continued growth and expansion of our Environmental Arboriculture and Forestry Team in either Basingstoke or Leeds, we are looking for an Apprentice Arboricultural Consultant to join our team for an immediate start. The role includes a view to enrolling with a training provider in September 2026. The training provider will be Myerscough College University, delivering the Level6 Professional Arboriculturist course. The role is based in Basingstoke or Leeds.
Join an award‑winning team that has received the Gold Green Apple Award for our Thames Tideway project. You will work alongside a full technical team, an internal software development team, and AI/Machine Learning specialists across a diverse range of projects nationally and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Undertake tree surveys for planning purposes and to assess tree condition.
- Prepare arboriculture reports to BS5837:2012, Arboriculture Impact Assessments (AIA) and Arboriculture Method Statements (AMS).
- Prepare Tree Condition Reports.
- Collaborate with arboriculture and environmental professionals in the planning, delivery, and management of arboriculture and forestry services.
- Embed health and safety issues in project delivery from the outset.

Qualifications
- Minimum Level3 Arboriculture qualification.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or Scottish Standard Grade or Junior Certificate in Ireland) at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Mathematics and English.
- 48 UCAS tariff points from one or more of the following: 2 Alevels (A2), at least one BTEC/C&G Level3, 2 Scottish Highers, 3 Irish Highers, IB, NVQ Level3, Access to HE Diploma, AS levels, BTEC Subsidiary Diploma, Scottish Intermediate2s.
- Hard‑working, enthusiastic, creative, practical, and adaptable with self‑motivation and organisation.
- Commitment to continued education and improvement through on‑the‑job learning and training opportunities.
- Excellent report‑writing skills with computer skills in MSWord and MSExcel.
- Methodical thinking for design, planning, and organisation of project parts.
- Research and interpretation skills from a variety of sources.
- Good people skills and a collaborative team approach.
- Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, organised, and thorough approach to work.
- IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- Interest and desire to pursue a career within Arboriculture and Forestry.
- Willingness and ability to travel; a full driving licence is essential.
- Knowledge of relevant UK legislation, best practice and policy relating to arboriculture (preferable but not essential).
