Job Description:

Interim HR/OD Consultant | Strategic Change & Organisational Design

London (Hybrid)

Are you a senior HR leader who thrives at the intersection of complex organisational design and mission-driven impact?

We are seeking an exceptional HR/OD Change Lead for a high-profile, board-mandated strategic realignment. This is an exciting opportunity to support an international, research-led charity entering a significant phase of structural change following a new strategic direction.

The Mission

Following the launch of a new strategic plan, the organisation is moving from a siloed structure to a more efficient, unified leadership model.

The Challenge

This is not an “off-the-shelf” restructure. You will operate in a unique, highly intellectual, and international environment:

  • Navigating Sensitivity: The organisation is navigating a legacy of sensitivity from previous changes, making transparency and professional excellence paramount.
  • Union Partnership: You will lead formal consultations within a unionised setting, ensuring a robust, evidence-based approach to the “trigger for change” and selection processes.

Your Impact

Reporting to the Director of HR and working alongside the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will:

  • Lead end-to-end Organisational Design, from finalising structures to overseeing redundancies and redeployment.
  • Act as a Strategic Advisor, interrogating SLT proposals to ensure they are defensible and robust.
  • Upskill the internal team, mentoring junior HR members and the Head of ER to build long-term capability.

The Ideal Profile

We are looking for an experienced Interim Org Design / HR Lead who can demonstrate:

  • Proven Change Expertise: A track record of leading complex, end-to-end restructures and Organisational Design projects.
  • Sector Experience: Experience within Education, Research, or Charities is essential.
  • Union & Legal Savvy: Deep experience in unionised consultations and strong employment law knowledge.
  • International Experience: Ability to navigate nuances for a workforce spread across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Composure: The ability to hold your own and maintain credibility with highly articulate, opinionated senior stakeholders.
  • Generalist HR background
