Job Description:

Valuations Manager – Private Markets | London | £100,000 – £140,000 + bonus

Private markets valuations is changing fast.

LPs are asking sharper questions. Auditors are pushing harder on assumptions. Regulators are paying close attention to how marks are derived. The platforms taking this seriously are bringing real valuations capability in-house rather than outsourcing it to a templated quarterly process.

We’re working with a European alternative asset manager hiring a Valuations Manager into its in-house team in London.

This is not a third-party review seat. It is a hands‑on, multi‑asset valuations role that sits close to the investment process, producing fair‑value marks from first principles, defending the assumptions behind them, and turning the work into something the portfolio team can actually use.

It will suit someone who has built strong technical valuations foundations and now wants the latitude to shape methodology, hold an opinion in front of a deal team, and own the output rather than verify someone else’s number.

You would be involved in:

  • Producing fair‑value marks across the portfolio on a quarterly cycle, with ad‑hoc work as required
  • Owning the in‑house valuation models — extending coverage, refining inputs, improving the underlying logic
  • Running sensitivity and stress analysis on the positions that matter most
  • Selecting and defending the right methodology for each asset class
  • Walking the valuation committee through marks and the rationale behind them
  • Engaging with auditors, third‑party valuers and external counsel
  • Working alongside portfolio managers and deal teams on portfolio management
  • Supporting IR with valuation context for investor communications
  • Contributing to the continued professionalisation of the valuations function

Likely background:

  • Qualified accountant, CFA or equivalent technical credential
  • Several years’ valuations experience in private markets — fund‑side or advisory
  • Strong grasp of fair‑value derivation, calibration and complex model build
  • Comfortable across multiple asset classes; private credit and private equity exposure helpful
  • Confident engaging investment teams as a peer rather than a checker
  • Pragmatic with imperfect data, thin comparables and live decisions
  • High ownership, sound judgement and clear communication

The platform is open on level. Strong commercially‑minded candidates earlier in their career will be considered alongside more experienced operators.

For someone who wants to move from valuations execution into a more central, methodology‑owning, investment‑adjacent role inside a growing alternative investment platform, this is a strong step.
