Buckinghamshire Mind is seeking a Safe Haven Team Lead to supervise and support a small team of Mental Health Crisis Support Workers within our Safe Haven Service, an out‑of‑hours support service for those experiencing a mental health crisis. The role is based in Aylesbury, with occasional travel to High Wycombe, and is a Permanent position offering a salary of £29,795 per year with a 30% premium for late‑night hours. The position involves 22 hours per week: 6pm‑12am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, plus 4 hours of administrative time on Tuesday mornings, for a total of 26 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide vision, high‑quality line management, support, and supervision to the staff team, and collaborate with the Buckinghamshire Mind Operational Management Team.
- Create a warm and welcoming environment for people facing out‑of‑hours mental health crises, serving as a calming alternative to emergency departments.
- Raise service‑user awareness of alternative mental health services appropriate to personal need and increase independence and self‑management skills.
- Treat service users with respect and provide personalised support focused on individual needs.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emotional crises, high‑risk situations, de‑escalation, safety planning, and suicide prevention.
Ideal Candidate
- Proven ability to lead, support, supervise, and motivate staff; manage workload effectively; work collaboratively while taking initiative and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emotional crises, high‑risk situations, de‑escalation, safety planning, and suicide prevention.
- Skilled in supporting people with mental health difficulties to build independence, develop self‑management strategies, and make positive change, with a consistently respectful and hopeful attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high‑quality services and build positive, constructive relationships with external agencies and partners.

Travel Expenses
