Role Overview

The QC Lead (Building Services) drives the prevention of repeat post‑PC defects and margin erosion through targeted Quality Control of high‑risk building services activities during the Construction Phase of live projects. The role focuses on early identification of design, workmanship, materials and interface risks, ensuring timely closure before close‑up and feeding lessons learned into the High‑Risk Quality Targets, Multiplex Way and the Centre for Excellence. The QC Lead sharpens project accountability by delivering evidence‑based QC outputs and collaborating with project teams, rather than policing them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report monthly to the Head of Q&A & AP on exposure to High‑Risk Quality Targets relevant to Building Services QC observations.
  • Raise QC observations during inspections of live projects, identifying high‑risk design, workmanship or material issues that are not yet resolved.
  • Utilise the ‘QC Risk Decision Required’ template to identify and propose solutions for risks to the Project Director, capturing decisions and rationale in writing.
  • Verify that ITPs and inspection records for Building Services are in place and followed for critical activities; flag gaps early to the Project Team and Head of Q&A & AP.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong Building Services background with deep expertise in at least one core discipline (mechanical, electrical, public health or commissioning) and sufficient understanding of the others.
  • Experience inspecting / assuring life‑safety building services interfaces.
  • Understanding of building services installation quality, interfaces and common failure modes that drive DLP/legacy cost.
  • Working knowledge of inspection and test planning, evidence capture and structured close‑out before close‑up.
  • Ability to read drawings/specifications and challenge buildability and compliance risks.

Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity is about celebrating the ways we are all different and appreciating the unique qualities that every employee brings. We invite applications from people of all genders, cultures and walks of life. Research shows that women and people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply for roles if they don’t meet every qualification. So even if you don’t match all the criteria – if you are passionate about helping construct a better future, we’d love to hear from you.

We are committed to providing a barrier‑free work environment and can support reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Simply inform our Talent Acquisition team during your conversation with them.
