Planning Enforcement Officer to Senior Planning Enforcement Officer (P00234)

Compensation & Contract

Starting salary £34,431 per annum with progression to £45,089 per annum through annual increments subject to satisfactory service (inclusive of outer fringe allowance). 37 hours per week (hybrid working). Permanent contract.

Location & Working Style

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. 37 hours per week, hybrid working. Expect to attend office 2 days a week, dependent on service needs.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are committed to becoming the best planning authority in Hertfordshire. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Enforcement Officer to Senior Planning Enforcement Officer within a dynamic team that works in both urban and rural environments.

Role Summary

You will be part of the Development Management team. You will report to the Principal Planning Enforcement Officer and will have some responsibility for overseeing another officer. You will be responsible for a range of work within the planning enforcement team, including investigating and monitoring alleged breaches of planning legislation relating to a variety of sites.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and monitor alleged breaches of planning legislation.
  • Oversee another officer within the enforcement team.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, applicants, agents, solicitors and the wider community.
  • Provide an efficient and responsive customer-focused service.
  • Demonstrate methodical and well-organised working.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in planning enforcement.
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Some staff management experience.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to converse in accurate spoken English.
  • Current driving licence and use of a car.
  • Strong relationships management skills with the wider community.
