We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant for our Junior Prep School to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with diabetes. This key role is part of our nurturing and inclusive community, requiring a wealth of experience supporting children with additional medical needs. You will work closely with one child, supporting their academic, social and emotional development throughout the school day, and collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to adapt resources, implement strategies and deliver targeted interventions that meet the child’s individual needs.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support tailored to the specific needs of a child with diabetes and additional medical needs.
- Assist in delivering the curriculum and monitoring pupil progress under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Help establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Prepare and organise materials and resources for lessons and activities.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Calm, patient, empathetic, and adaptable to different needs and situations.
- Ability to make effective decisions quickly.
- Warm and approachable personality, able to engage the child in interests such as wildlife and Lego.
- Extensive experience in a similar role within a primary school setting.
- In-depth knowledge of supporting children with a range of additional and medical needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Passion for inclusion and commitment to helping every child reach their full potential.
