HMP Lincoln Future Campaign – This is a special futures scheme that guarantees a permanent prison officer role at HMP Lincoln. For the first 23 months, selected officers will work at HMP Highpoint before moving to HMP Lincoln.
Responsibilities and Activities
On a typical day you’ll carry out a variety of roles, including:
- Peacekeeper, ensuring safety and order
- Counselor, providing support and assistance to prisoners
- Teacher, delivering educational programmes

Requirements
- At least 18 years old at commencement of employment
- Meet Civil Service Nationality requirements
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment
- Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes
- Meet a suitable standard of hearing for safety reasons
- Tattoos, if visible, must not be offensive, discriminatory, violent, or intimidating. Facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious or medical reasons
Benefits
First 23 months at HMP Highpoint:
- Accommodation costs covered up to £750 per month
- Reimbursement for monthly travel between HMP Highpoint and HMP Lincoln
- Recruitment and retention bonus of £1500 after 12 months and again after 23 months
- Paid monthly trips home
- Regular accommodation support and a recruitment and retention payment
Pay and training:
- Starting salary of £35,746 at HMP Highpoint; salary will adjust to the rate at the prison you eventually transfer to.
- Training: 37 hours per week for initial training. After training, you can choose to work 37, 39, or 41 hours per week. Your annual salary will reflect your weekly hours.
