Requirements
- Verifiable references demonstrating reliability, respect and honesty.
- Food hygiene and H&S certifications (or willingness to train).
- A genuine interest in cooking from scratch, with fresh ingredients.
- Clear spoken, written and auditory English skills, to easily understand and communicate with a client with varied speech and processing difficulties.
- You uphold confidentiality and GDPR.
- Driver/use of own car is essential for social shifts, but not necessarily for the morning shifts, please state when applying.

The Role
A diligent and proactive carer, you are versed in juggling tasks and prioritising with consideration of the client’s needs and time constraints. Privately employed directly by the client, working both in their home and locations around Norwich/Norfolk in my home, with the support of social services managing payroll. Working one‑to‑one with myself (Woman/40s), an ambulatory wheelchair user. This position includes social/hobbies, personal care, cooking from scratch, home chores and anything life entails. Essentially, anything you do for yourself, you may well assist me with at some point, although I like to be independent where feasible.
Physical assistance is required depending on my abilities at that time, and helping me navigate decisions when I’m exhausted and my cognition is challenged. Emotional support and understanding is also helpful at times when things become overwhelming.
This role will suit someone whose open to a variety of activities and getting stuck into projects with me. My interests are varied and include (list not exhaustive):
- Being out in nature/time with animals
- Live music/festivals/events
- Show/comedy
- Socialise with friends/out to dinner
- Creative projects at home/gardenEvening class
Flexible Working Opportunities
Offering a flexible approach, ideal for carers seeking a better work‑life balance or additional hours around existing commitments. There are no fixed days or set shift patterns. Instead, shifts will be offered on a weekly basis, depending on the client’s needs and the carer’s availability. You are free to accept or decline shifts as they arise, allowing you to work in a way that suits your schedule.
Hours can be offered any day of the week, generally during afternoons/evenings and late nights (not throughout the whole night). In addition, regular morning shifts (10:00am–12:00pm, 7 days a week) may be available to cover holidays, sickness, or staff shortages. These shifts focus on personal care/bathing, cooking/food preparation, home chores/cleaning and maintaining the client’s home.

Training for Employees
Several short, mandatory online training courses will be completed during your initial trial period, of around 7‑8 hours. You are welcome to undertake these at home when it’s convenient for you, and will be paid for this additional time.
