Overview
Our client has a full-time vacancy for a Legal Assistant to provide an efficient support service to Solicitors within the Commercial Property department.
Responsibilities
- Joining a busy and friendly commercial property team
- Opening new files, sending initial letters to clients, and obtaining money on account
- Undertaking anti‑money laundering searches and completing compliance documentation accordingly
- General administration duties such as filing, sending faxes, emails, and closing files
- Undertaking searches
- Completion of SDLT and other forms at the direction of a solicitor
- Completion of accounts paperwork for monies received and monies out
- Typing
- Taking telephone calls from clients, agents and third‑party solicitors and providing appropriate updates where necessary
- Assisting with the paperwork/processes for completion
- Sending post‑completion letters to relevant parties
- Assisting with general office administration, including reception on a rota basis
Qualifications
- Previous conveyancing experience – either residential or commercial
- Good typing/keyboard skills
- Background working in a property department – either residential or commercial
- Familiar with general processes relating to property transactions and terminology used
- Confident and capable when meeting clients face to face who drop into the office from time to time to collect or deliver paperwork
- Confident telephone manner
- Good organisational and administration skills
