Community Payback Supervisor

A role that places you at the heart of community rehabilitation, supervising small teams of offenders completing unpaid work to pay back for harm caused.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising work groups of offenders at community payback sites.
  • Ensuring tasks such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, planting trees, graffiti removal, litter picking and related manual activities are carried out safely and to standard.
  • Using service vehicles to transport people or equipment where required.
  • Co‑ordinating with service users to demonstrate good practice and maintain progress.

Practical requirements:

  • Must hold a valid full UK Manual Driving Licence.
  • Weekend working is essential; you will work frequent weekends and may be asked to cover evenings.
  • Work pattern is 7 days a week, with an additional 50% higher rate for weekend days worked.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Salary starts at £26,475 (entry level).
  • Annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF).
  • Annual leave of 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after five years’ service.
  • Pension scheme: Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) via the Greater Manchester Pension Fund.

Working Hours and Pattern

The role is a standard full‑time position of 37 hours per week, excluding breaks, with flexibility for part‑time, flexible, or job‑sharing arrangements in line with the HMPPS Flexible Working policy.
