Overview
The Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist college in Godstone, Surrey, focusing on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and making dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives.
Position
We are looking for a Learning Support Care Assistant (LSCA) to support students in achieving their personal developmental goals across the week. The role will be based in our rural SEN college in Godstone.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently support students to meet their individual goals in all settings.
- Provide personal hygiene and intimate care support in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Assist learners with out‑of‑session work and provide evidence for their education programme.
- Work a two‑week rota of early (07:00‑15:00), day (09:00‑17:00) and late (13:30‑21:30) shifts, including some weekend and night work where required.
- Cover additional admin, rehearsals and training sessions as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with young people or adults who have severe, complex or moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities and/or behavioural needs.
- Good level of maths, English and ICT skills.
- Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
- Ability to maintain and update specialist knowledge through professional development.
- Innovative, creative and having a sense of humour.
- Caring and patient attitude with excellent people skills.
- Effective teamwork and relationship building within a multidisciplinary workforce.
- Excellent communication with professionals, colleagues, learners and families/carers.
- Physically fit and robust enough to provide personal care and manual handling support.
Hours & Salary
35 hours per week over 44 weeks per year (term‑time only). Salary: £23,735.06 per annum pro‑rata.
