Drivers Mate

Overview

Flexible People Ltd is recruiting Drivers Mates to support lorry drivers for a well‑known client in Bristol. The role involves delivering large goods such as flat‑pack furniture, gym equipment, and white goods to residential properties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to residential customers within the Avonmouth area.
• Call ahead to customers to confirm arrival times, demonstrating strong customer‑service and telephone skills.
• Act as a banksman, standing outside the lorry when it reverses to ensure safety.
• Attend an induction day and comply with all company and client policies.
• Be physically fit, able to lift heavy goods, and able to work weekend shifts (Sunday to Thursday).
• Maintain reliable attendance on a weekly rota of 5‑6 shifts per week.
• Be prepared to undergo drug testing at induction and at any time at the client’s discretion.

Requirements

• Reliable and organised.
• Good communication skills and a high level of customer service.
• Fit and healthy, able to lift heavy goods.
• Own steel‑toe safety boots and a high‑vis vest.
• Able to reliably commute to the Avonmouth area.

Compensation

Hourly rate: £13.05 with an overtime rate of £19.73.
