Specifications Technologist

Reports to: Specification and Change Manager

Location: Grimsby or Chessington site (hybrid)

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum DOE

Shift pattern: Monday – Friday

Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Accountabilities

Managing Finished Product Specifications (Retail, Brand and Foodservice)

  • All specifications will be accurate, completed and activated by the day of store launch, including reviews within required timelines.
  • Submission of specifications to be done in a timely manner and achieve any customer or internal NESI deadlines.
  • Ensure specifications are active for any live products (SKUs). If products delist or off‑range, specifications need to be updated in a timely manner (within 4 weeks).
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (NPD, buying and supply base) to ensure specifications are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain the Specifications & Artwork tracker, RACI tracker, and any other applicable trackers.
  • Check artworks to ensure they are in line with pack copy and current food labelling legislation/regulations and coordinate artwork approvals with cross‑functional team when required.
  • Ensure artwork compliance with customer requirements, containing the correct level of information and consistency across site and customer artworks.
  • Assist in the Stage & Gate process where required (e.g., gate document reviews) / any admin.
  • Assist in the HFSS data submission (on Product DNA/Syndigo) where required.
  • Complete any external requirements that come through from the customers.

Experience

  • Strong team‑working skills.
  • Attention to detail and understanding of NESI processes and those of our customers.
  • Pro‑active, problem‑solving attitude to resolve issues directly.
  • Ability to escalate issues to head of technical as required.
  • Experience of dealing with one or more of the major retailers from a technical point of view.
  • Understanding food labelling requirements, product specifications and broad expertise in working with demanding retailers and their codes of practice.
  • Superb customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and persuade both stakeholders across the business and retail customers.
  • Excellent IT skills e.g. Microsoft.
  • A science or technology‑based degree or equivalent degree or relevant experience.
