Position Overview

Stafford Borough & Cannock Chase District Councils

Housing Maintenance Carpentry Apprentice – 2 roles

Grade Apprentice Level 2: £25,948.96 per annum (pay award pending)

Role Numbers: SB218 & SB219

Fixed Term: up to 36 months from appointment – 37 Hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a range of housing/property maintenance skills in Council properties, specialising in carpentry and incorporating a range of additional skills
  • Work as part of a team and demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and a commitment to customer care
  • Enjoy outdoor work and hold a full clean driving licence, or achieve one within two years if not currently held

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of and interest in building construction and maintenance
  • Relevant vocational experience in the carpentry trade (ideal)
  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English Language at Grade 4 or above, or equivalent academic experience
  • Full clean driving licence, or ability to achieve within two years of appointment

Successful applicants will receive a formal qualification within a maximum 36‑month period.
