Band 5 Occupational Therapist – Mary Seacole Ward 1

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to take up the position of band 5 Occupational Therapist (OT) at The Oleaster Centre. The successful candidate will be based on Ward 2 at Mary Seacole House, a Female Acute Ward, working as a key member of that team where they will develop and deliver occupational therapy (OT) provision to a designated caseload. They will focus on occupational performance, complex mental health presentations, risk management and evaluating outcomes aligned to personalised care plans. They will implement and facilitate individual and group programmes of clinical intervention in collaboration with OT assistants, activity workers and other professionals for effective recovery and discharge.
Whilst based with a specific ward team, the OT may need to be flexible of location to accommodate clinical need. The role requires close collaboration with the Senior Occupational Therapist, band 7 Occupational Therapist, Ward Manager, Occupational Therapy Acute Lead, Matron and the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must communicate well and use their professional skills and knowledge to work effectively across the service, displaying the ability to work on their own initiative and as a committed team player. They will support the day‑to‑day decision making on the ward, take designated supervision responsibilities, lead various individual projects, quality initiatives and service developments that support the trust strategy. The candidate will be expected to be flexible and embrace a philosophy of care that places the service user at the heart of everything.

Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year, pro rata.
