We are searching for a modern housekeeper for the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at the Royal Derby Hospital. The role involves working alongside medical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to manage catering, cleaning, and equipment for the unit.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist catering and cleaning staff for daily operation of the unit stores and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for staff and patients.
• Ensure seamless provision of non‑clinical services – cleaning, catering, minor maintenance, and other specified tasks – in compliance with NHS National Standards.
• Assist catering team in delivering diet and fluids to patients throughout their stay.
• Ensure cleaning staff are trained and equipped properly.
• Report broken equipment to relevant departments and keep accurate records.
• Order, rotate, and store stock to avoid overuse and ensure correct supply levels, following unit procedures.
• Support the unit team with a can‑do attitude to maintain smooth department operations.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene certificate or working towards it.
• NVQ Level 2 in housekeeping or equivalent.

Experience

• Evidence of customer care service or equivalent.
• Experience with health and safety and waste management policies.

Skills

• Evidence of good communication skills.
• Demonstrate good organisational and prioritising workload.
• Evidence of working within a team in a caring environment.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of COSHH and health & safety policies.
• Understand principles of confidentiality.
• Understanding of individual roles and responsibilities within the environmental setting.
