Social Work Assistant – Area Services (Birmingham)

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people? An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Social Work Assistant to join a dedicated Area Services team supporting children and families across Birmingham.

Working within a highly supportive team environment, you will play a vital role in supporting Social Workers and Team Managers in delivering high‑quality interventions and practical support to families across the city.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated worker caseload under the guidance of Social Workers and Team Managers
  • Support the safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable children and young people
  • Undertake assessments, gather and analyse information, and maintain accurate case records
  • Provide practical day‑to‑day support to children and families
  • Work closely with partner agencies and professionals to achieve the best outcomes
  • Prepare accurate reports and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Contribute positively within a collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, policy, and best practice
