Position
House Manager (Lock Court, Shrewsbury, Shropshire)
Hours: 25 hours per week Monday to Friday, working throughout the year.
Salary: £18,798 ACTUAL plus benefits and bonus.

About the Role
We seek a customer centric House Manager to exemplify high‑quality customer standards. This diverse role enhances homeowners’ quality of life and enables them to maintain independence. It includes high‑level customer service, front‑of‑house and facilities management. The successful candidate will manage a strong community through event coordination, regular meetings, and reporting company updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming new homeowners and supporting them to settle into their apartments.
- Providing a professional front‑of‑house service and dealing with all visitors in a friendly manner.
- Being the first point of contact for all homeowners and offering help, support and advice as necessary.
- Working in collaboration with partners and suppliers to ensure the smooth running of the estate.
- Being the ‘face’ of McCarthy Stone for families and friends of homeowners.
- Dealing with homeowners’ issues with sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Managing development (gardens and grounds) efficiently, providing a safe, secure, well‑maintained environment.
- Facilitating social interaction and helping homeowners enjoy retirement living to the fullest.
- Ensuring all health‑and‑safety requirements are adhered to.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with a real “can do” attitude.
- Extensive experience in a professional customer‑service‑oriented position.
- Professional approach with high quality standards.
- Thrives in a busy, varied role where each day is different.
- Resilient and capable of effective problem solving.
- Awareness of basic health and safety is a distinct advantage.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Previous or current first‑aid qualifications are an advantage, though training will be provided.
