THE ROLE

The Lead Visual Designer will be the visual storyteller behind brand‑recognizable design work across all media. You will translate consumer insights, campaign briefs, and brand purpose into authentic, inclusive, and distinctive visuals for social, digital, OOH, and POS touchpoints. You will also guide and mentor a team of designers and content creators, integrating Gen‑AI tools thoughtfully into the creative process.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead the visual direction for social‑first content and campaigns, creating strong conceptual ideas that differentiate the brand.
  • Design and produce social‑first assets for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging channels, ensuring each piece is platform‑native, on‑brand, and high‑quality.
  • Develop visual concepts that flex across social, digital display, CRM, OOH, and POS formats.
  • Champion conceptual thinking through briefing and execution, grounding solutions in insight and purpose.
  • Art‑direct photography, video, and content shoots to reflect the brand authentically and inclusively.
  • Build, mentor, and guide designers and content creators, fostering a culture of social‑first excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with strategists, copywriters, social media managers, and the brand team to produce integrated, cohesive assets.
  • Transform brand guidelines into distinctive, ownable executions relevant to each platform and cultural context.
  • Integrate Gen‑AI tools into ideation, exploration, and production while preserving craft and authenticity.
  • Lead platform‑specific design initiatives that leverage each channel’s visual language.
  • Stay current with platform algorithms, features, design trends, and audience behaviours.
  • Manage multiple projects with varying timelines, maintaining quality and consistency under pressure.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A portfolio demonstrating 6+ years of design experience, with strong social‑first examples for consumer brands.
  • Deep understanding of social platform behaviours, content formats, and visual performance factors across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging channels.
  • Strong conceptual ability and a record of translating big ideas into compelling visual work across touchpoints.
  • Visual storytelling skills that communicate brand purpose, emotion, and product messaging authentically.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma, with proficiency in social‑speed asset production.
  • Experience art‑directing photography, video, or content shoots, with a keen eye for composition and inclusive representation.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship of designers and content creators, providing direction, feedback, and inspiration.
  • Experience creating native content and design systems for key social platforms, understanding specs, safe zones, and best practices.
  • Strong presentation skills for communicating concepts, rationale, and conviction to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing quality, speed, and competing priorities.
  • Understanding of inclusive design and visual representation, with a track record of reflecting diverse audiences authentically.
  • Professional proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.

GEN AI AND AGENTIC THINKING

  • Proficiency with Gen‑AI design tools (Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, DALL‑E, Runway) and strategic application in social content creation.
  • Agentic mindset: breaking down creative challenges, identifying effective visual approaches, and executing across workstreams.
  • Experience integrating AI into design workflows for ideation, mood boarding, visual exploration, and production efficiency.
  • Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations, with human oversight, quality control, and a critical eye for brand fit and design quality.
  • Prompt‑engineering skills and ability to evaluate AI‑generated visuals for authenticity and premium standards.
  • Guiding team members in responsible and effective use of AI tools within the creative process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal degrees are welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts, including work, study, volunteering, or self‑directed learning.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in beauty, personal care, wellness, or lifestyle design.
  • Experience in an in‑house agency, embedded studio, or social‑specialist creative team.
  • Motion design or animation skills (After Effects, Runway, or similar).
  • Experience with design systems, template development, or scalable content frameworks.
  • Understanding of accessibility in design (colour contrast, type hierarchy, alt text, inclusive imagery).
  • Experience with social commerce creative or performance‑driven design.
  • Photography or illustration skills as a complement to design.
