Job Title: Wholetime Firefighter
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary Range: £30,384 per annum (Development) rising to £38,881 per annum (Competent)
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent
Do you want to make a difference every day? Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue needs you. The role of a Firefighter is not only about fighting fires; it ranges from informing people on safety issues to responding to road traffic collisions and medical emergencies to name a few.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Wholetime Firefighter by engaging in public safety activities and responding to emergencies as required.
- Inform and educate the public on a wide range of safety issues.
- Respond to road traffic collisions and medical emergencies in line with service protocols.
Qualifications & Eligibility
- Reside in Hertfordshire or in a directly adjoining postcode area as listed on the Postcode Eligibility Page
- Be 18 years old or over at the time you start the training course
- Hold a full & valid manual driving licence, enabling ‘unsupervised’ driving in the United Kingdom
- Have the right to work in the United Kingdom
- Have no unspent convictions (As defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)
- Have GCSE Grade A* to C, or Level 9-4 qualifications in English and Mathematics (or a recognised equivalent i.e. Functional Skills Level 2). See qualification criteria for further details
Additional Information
- Appointments will be made on merit of the application and performance in the selection process; applications from females and those from Minority Ethnic backgrounds who are under-represented within Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service are encouraged.

- Driving Roles: travel to other sites/residences with own transport or a company car; DVLA check required on appointment.
