Community Counsellor Required: Birmingham, West Midlands

Women’s Consortium is recruiting a Community Counsellor to deliver short term, trauma informed counselling to adults experiencing emotional distress, low mood, grief, trauma, or relational difficulties across Birmingham and Solihull. The role sits within the Community Counselling Service, which aims to reduce mental health inequalities and improve access to culturally appropriate support for underserved communities, particularly individuals from Global Majority backgrounds.
The postholder will provide 1 to 1 and group counselling sessions in community settings, GP surgeries, faith centres, and online, working as part of a partnership with Kapella Counselling and Cruse Bereavement Support. The role may also contribute to other Women’s Consortium programmes as capacity allows.
- Location: Birmingham and Solihull (community based locations, hybrid delivery)
- Contract: Fixed term, 2 years, subject to ongoing funding
- Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. Part time considered
- Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Reports to: Clinical Lead (clinical supervision), Therapy Manager (operational)
- DBS: Enhanced DBS required
This is an opportunity to deliver meaningful counselling in community settings, support adults who may face barriers to accessing help, and be part of a service focused on culturally appropriate and trauma informed care across Birmingham and Solihull.
Important information: This role is contingent on ongoing funding. Continuation beyond the initial contract period is subject to the availability of programme funding.
