Job Title: Healthcare Support Worker – Operating Theatres

Location: LanarkshireHours: Full time and Part time hours available

About the Role

We are currently seeking experienced Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) with operating theatre experience to join a busy and high-performing theatre team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced clinical environment, supporting surgical teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

You will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey and assisting theatre staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing operating theatres and equipment in line with infection prevention and control standards
• Assisting with patient positioning, transfer, and comfort
• Supporting surgical, anaesthetic, and recovery teams as required
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and well‑organised theatre environment
• Restocking equipment and consumables
• Following all policies, procedures, and clinical governance requirements
• Providing compassionate care and reassurance to patients at all times

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Healthcare Support Worker within operating theatres
• Strong understanding of operating theatre protocols, aseptic technique, and infection control
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A flexible approach to working hours, including shifts where required

Desirable

• SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent)
• Experience across different surgical specialities
• Manual handling and basic life support training
