Location: Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Dumfries, DG2 8PS
Salary: £28,291 – £29,175 plus shift enhancements and potential AP/CP payments plus excellent benefits.
Schedule: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, working a mixture of early, late, night and weekend shifts: 6 am‑2 pm, 2 pm‑10 pm and 10 pm‑6 am.
As a Building Support Assistant in our Health team, you’ll help keep vital hospital facilities running safely and efficiently, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities that directly impact patient care and wellbeing.
What you’ll do as a Building Support Assistant
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across engineering plant and equipment
- Carry out tasks such as filter changes, ductwork cleaning, and lighting replacements
- Assist technicians and craftspeople with fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs
- Complete service records, work orders, and logbooks using CAFM systems
- Work safely in a range of environments, including plant rooms and confined spaces
- Escort contractors and communicate effectively with colleagues regarding maintenance activities
Does this sound like you? You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- Experience in a building services or maintenance environment
- Relevant technical training or NVQ qualifications and health and safety awareness
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately
- Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems
- The ability to work under pressure, manage priorities and meet deadlines
Vetting and Checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire.
