Job Title: Youth Support Worker in Charge
Department: Children’s Services
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £29,644 pa progressing to £33,066 (or £28,724 pa for part‑time 18.5hrs, pro rata)
Location: North Hertfordshire & St Albans
Hours: 18.5 hours per week (includes four 2.5‑hour evenings during term time, flexible daytime hours and additional hours often available)
Key Responsibilities
Managing a small team of 4–5 Youth Support Workers and Volunteers, you will plan, deliver and evaluate a range of curriculum‑based groupwork projects, and work one‑to‑one with vulnerable and at‑risk young people aged 11 to 17 to help improve their future prospects.
Part of the role requires you to handle safeguarding issues and health and safety, whilst addressing service users’ needs and helping them overcome the specific challenges they face.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience of youth work, whether paid or voluntary.
- Strong IT, record‑keeping, organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to forge relationships with a range of partner organisations.
- Good written and spoken English; for those whose language is a signed language, provision of an interpreter will be required.
- Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Ability to drive and travel around Hertfordshire.
