Job Description:

1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Complex Needs (Year 7)

Stockport

450-550 per week

Full-time (08:30 – 15:30) Monday to Friday Term-time only

Are you a patient, calm, and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs on a 1:1 basis?

Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 7 pupil within a specialist provision
  • Supporting a pupil with Autism and Dyslexia, working below age-related expectations
  • Acting as a scribe, repeating instructions and reinforcing learning consistently
  • Supporting the pupil to retain information through structured repetition and guidance
  • Promoting emotional regulation, ensuring the pupil feels safe, happy, and engaged in school
  • Working closely with teaching staff and specialists to deliver tailored support

Communication & Support

  • Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Providing regular updates to parents/carers on progress and wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with school staff to ensure a consistent approach

About You

  • Patient, calm, and nurturing, with the ability to be firm when needed
  • Resilient and consistent in your approach to supporting learning and behaviour
  • Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with parents/carers
  • Passionate about helping vulnerable pupils access education and reach their full potential
  • Able to adapt your approach to meet individual needs

Ideal backgrounds include

  • SEND support in an education or private setting
  • Autism support with young people or adults
  • Residential care / children’s homes
  • Youth work, mentoring, or coaching

What’s on offer
