Role Summary
Are you a hard-working, hands-on individual looking for a physically active role in a fast-paced industrial environment? This is a great opportunity to join a large-scale operation within the Rail sector, supporting essential logistics and site movements. We are looking for multiple Yard Operatives / Shunters to join a busy site in the Loughborough area. The perfect opportunity for Rail accustomed candidates, offering consistent hours, strong pay rates and the chance to be part of a key operational team.
Responsibilities
- Shunting and positioning wagons across site
- Coupling and uncoupling wagons safely
- Carrying out routine wagon inspections
- Driving vehicles within the yard (where required)
- Following strict health & safety procedures
- Supporting smooth day-to-day yard movements and operations
Role Details
The role is heavily focused on shunting, alongside wagon inspections, coupling and uncoupling, and general yard duties. You can expect to walk up to 15,000 steps per day, so a good level of fitness is essential. This is a Monday to Friday role with fixed shifts:
- Days: 05:30am – 4:30pm (11-hour shift; 10 hours paid + 1-hour paid break)
- Nights: 5:30pm – 4:30am
About You / Qualifications
- Previous Rail Depot / Sidings experience essential
- Previous Shunting experience essential
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Strong work ethic and reliable attitude
- Able to work early starts or night shifts consistently
- In date PTS and Shunting License are not required as full training will be provided
Requirements
- Due to the remote location and early start times, candidates must have their own transport to site (car and valid UK driving licence preferred). There is no public transport available at these hours.
