Job Role: Carpenter Locksmith

Location: The Mount- Molyneaux Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 0NZ

Salary: £37,870.30 – £39,673.67 with 5% shift allowance

Contract: Full time/ Permanent

HMP The Mount is a Category C Male prison. As a member of the Facilities Maintenance Team you will work Monday to Sunday with a supportive and driven group to create a safe and nurturing environment. Your role will involve maintaining the security and safety of the prison and its facilities, working closely with colleagues such as plumbers, electricians, painters, cleaners and administrators to ensure the smooth operation of the institution.

Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance and repair of custodial and non‑custodial areas
• Use and operate power tools and machinery safely and effectively
• Assist with the safeguarding and installation of locks and security fixtures
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and incident reporting procedures
• Collaborate with other maintenance trades to meet operational objectives

Qualifications

• Substantiated experience in a similar role
• Competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery
• Basic IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
• Up to date First Aid at Work qualification
• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry, or equivalent qualification or substantial experience
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
