Red Snapper Recruitment is recruiting Community Payback Supervisors on behalf of the Probation Service. In this role, you’ll supervise individuals completing Community Payback helping improve local communities through projects such as maintenance, cleaning, and environmental work. This is a mobile, varied role where no two days are the same.

Who We’re Looking For

No probation experience required – full training is provided.

We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including:

  • Construction, trades, gardening, or maintenance
  • Teaching, coaching, or youth work
  • Police, armed forces, or security
  • Charity, homelessness, or mental health support work
  • Any role involving leadership or supervision

What the Role Involves

  • Reviewing project risk assessments and plans
  • Collecting tools/equipment and loading a work van
  • Picking up People on Probation from designated points
  • Supervising them on community projects
  • Ensuring safe working practices and positive engagement
  • Returning individuals to drop‑off points
  • Completing paperwork and unloading equipment

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise groups (up to around 10 individuals) completing unpaid work
  • Deliver safety briefings and daily instructions
  • Maintain discipline and encourage positive behaviour
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments
  • Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Record attendance, incidents, and progress

Hours & Flexibility

  • 4 days per week (condensed hours – approx. 9.25 hours per day)
  • Weekend work required (both Saturday and Sunday each week)

Requirements

  • Full clean UK manual driving licence (essential)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Ability to supervise and engage groups confidently
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Basic IT skills for record‑keeping
  • Willingness to travel across Hampshire if required
  • Training provided (including Working Safely & Emergency First Aid)
