Your ability to bring energy and structure to ensemble work will be key, especially when working with bands and group performances.
You’ll draw on your experience as both a performer and teacher to create sessions that are practical, enjoyable, and tailored to a range of abilities. Alongside teaching, you’ll manage your time effectively within agreed schedules and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment.
Communication plays an important part in the role, as you’ll regularly interact with pupils, parents, and colleagues. There may also be occasional requirements to work outside of standard music school hours, for example for performances or events, agreed in advance.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About You
You’ll have experience of playing and teaching guitar, particularly within rock and pop styles, as well as leading acoustic guitar sessions in group settings. Your background will reflect a range of experience as both a performer and educator, giving you confidence in different teaching and musical situations.
You’re comfortable conducting and directing ensembles, including bands and large guitar groups, and you bring strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your time effectively. You communicate clearly and confidently with pupils, parents, and staff, helping to build positive and supportive relationships.
Ideally, you’ll also have the ability to play other instruments such as drums, bass, or keys, adding flexibility to your teaching, and knowledge and experience of setting up PA equipment ready for performance. You’ll have a solid understanding of instrumental technique and repertoire, along with an appreciation for a range of musical styles including funk, jazz, and pop.
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.
